Amber Valletta wears form-fitting looks for the fall 2012 campaign from Emilio Pucci, captured by the famous duo Mert & Marcus. I love these 2 photographers and definitely their style of taking photos! So cold with that blood read lipstick she is wearing, the lighting is just wow! These are the first photos out of this shoot!

An Interview with Mnawrah.

An Interview with Mnawrah.

I love discovering young new artists and how they approach creativity, especially in the Middle East. I came across Mnawarh when someone tweeted her saying '' I love your work'', I couldn't help but to check it out myself and I am glad I did! Her name is Aysha, from United Arab Emirates, Ajman and goes by the name of Mnawrah. She has flickr, devian art Tumblr and Instagram,@Mnawrah

  1. What’s the best thing about being an artist?/What’s the worst thing about being an artist?and why?
Best thing:
You can actually bring your imagination into reality and create whatever you want from scratch without facing significant struggles.

Worst things:
A lot of artists (including myself) suffer from two things, first: the “moodiness syndrome”, which is the main reason that prevented me of taking any Art courses at university OR having a main job that requires pure art in the future. And that reason also prevented me from having a stable business where I can take advantage of my Art skills!
The second worst thing of being an artist is the “lack of inspiration/creativity syndrome”: and that occurs  sometimes and it drives me crazy and desperate to have that blown mind idea for a new piece of art.

  1. How long have you been doing it for?
Well, I’ve been drawing since I don’t remember when. Since I was a child, I started with drawing and as soon as I got used to the adobe photoshop and the computer at 14 years old , I started designing and using the digital tools to do my art work.

  1. What inspired you to start?
I was so amazed and inspired by the programs I used to watch on the TV. I enjoyed watching Keif wo Laish on LBC and I used to LOVE the drawing time and I remember grabbing a piece of paper and copying what she draws on TV. I also used to draw the character I see on the TV such as Detective Conan. And Disney magazines! Oh my god! Those magazines were all over our house.
  1. Have you always been creative?
Well, I am a left-handed person since I was small, I remember that I was good at the art class in the school but I was too hyper as well.

  1. Do any artists influence you and why?
I cannot tell you that there is specific artist that influences me, I like to explore art from everyone everywhere!

  1. Who is your favourite artist?

  1. Do you normally sketch your designs first or work digitally first?
The best and more sophisticated works of mine were sketched by hand first.

  1. What has been your favourite project and why?
Well, I am currently working with @TheRabbitHoleAE project and I’m loving it! I’m working as the official graphic designer of them. Therefore, I tend to things along with drawing such as designing the ads, banners and other stuff.

  9. You are also a member of the rabbit hole AE...can you explain this in detail more?

The Rabbit Hole is a young Emirati project that sheds the light on the local designers of the GCC countries on how young creative mind can create some unique fashion statements. It is an organization that seeks to encourage young fashion designers to strive forward with creativity and individualism. The Rabbit Hole existence will focus in helping local brands to emerge instead of relying on exporting western brands. Our motto is “We Have What It Takes”.
And you can check them out on their Twitter : @TheRabbitHoleAE

10.What are you studying now and what are you hoping to achieve in the future?
I am studying in Zayed University, majoring in Integrated Strategic communications (Public Relations).  According to my profession career, I am looking forward to get a job in a government sector that has to do with my major. Completing my work with The Rabbit Hole project, and I might have my own project that I have not decided what It is about yet.

11.What is the best piece of advice you can tell someone who wants to start Art?
Keep practicing and exploring others work.

  1. What is your favourite quote?
Twitter by  @WomenOfHistory :
“A real Superman is not afraid to stand next to a Superwoman!”

I hope you all enjoyed the left handed Aysha Al Hamrani's work as much as I did and it is great to see young talent flourishing successfully. Over the past 2 years I have noticed a growth in young people and their creativity from art to fashion in the Middle East and I must say its amazing to watch and I can't wait to see what's next!

The Villaggio Fire Documentary.

The Villaggio Fire Documentary.

Hello Readers,

My dear friend Sarah Al Derham contributed to this video about the Villagio Fire and I would like to share it with you all. This event was so tragic and sad, and the video was a great thing to do. For those who don't know about the event, a fire had started in Villaggio mall,Qatar and killed and injured a lot of children. Everyone came together to support those who had lost loved ones.

''This is a documentary made by the people of Qatar, for the people of Qatar. Brought together by a few students and friends. The reason why this documentary was made is because there were a lot of complaints on the day of the fire that the media in Qatar was not broadcasting or talking about it. Also, to call upon people that matter in this country, and urge them to take safety issues more seriously.
This short documentary was shot and made within 52 hours of the fire actually happening (28th-31st May). The delay of the upload was due to many technical difficulties the team faced and translation.
Special thanks to the crew that worked, helped, supported, offered footage, translated, edited, animated, and put together this documentary.
Latifa Al-Darwish, Abdullah Al-Khalaf, Sarah Al-Derham, Salman Al-Mohannadi, Sara Al-Saadi, Fahad Al-Kuwari, Fatma Al-Nasr, Haya Al-Mannai, Yara Darwish, Yasser Masood, Mouza Al-Derham, Zahed Bata, Usama A.H.
PS, we know the sound is very bad and camera is a bit shaky in some scenes. Please bare in mind that everything was shot in two days using only iPhones and one 5D. We tried to get as much footage while peoples' opinions were still fresh in their minds."

Support and prayers go out to all the families.

See you tomorrow!

“Collections”, Vogue Italia shot by Steven Meisel, takes a first look at the fall 2012 collections with its July issue. The cover  features six models floating in sheer Gucci dresses styled by Karl Templer in some kind of gothic theme Givenchy collection shot with chickens ready to take flight with leather, red and black  Rick Owens stark and sleek with taxidermy foxes; Prada combined their magnificent hats with primary colored balloons; Miu Miu and floating chairs; McQueen, bad ass shades and you can see the rest for your self in the images.
The colour combinations, the way the models are placed with sheer precision and thought, same location; different outfits, themes, ideas and the creativity just flows in each shot. My fav was the 2nd image, so colourful and energetic!

Mood swings!

Mood swings!

Hey Readers,
So I must admit I haven't been in the mood to blog, I think its just the weather to be honest with you. Its summer but it doesn't feel much like summer at all. I spend my days inside the majority of the time as the clouds open up and let loose. I have had enough of this miserable weather I just want to TRAVEL. See new things, meet new people, embrace different cultures and just take photos! In 2 weeks I shall be off to Hong Kong and China for an entire month, and of course then I can take photos and share my adventures with you all.
Here are a few photos I have taken through out this week!
I was thinking about peoples moods and how it can affect others and also what they do. Whatever vibe you give off, you will also receive. Every moment you have a choice – to be at peace or to be in resistance. When you are at peace you attract positive energy and when you resist you create negative vibes that reflect back on your being. It’s a simple choice and yet most people unconsciously choose to live in negativity. I guess because its easier just to blame the bad day on bad luck or other people but really it can sometimes be our own bad mood that attracts the negativity. So every morning when you wake up, think positively and seek positivity!

A lot of my readers I know are Muslim so I just want to wish you all a blessed month of Ramadan, and encourage positivity. If you know any of your friends/family members who are struggling, encourage them and don't put them down. Any change for the better is good change! May your Ramadan be filled with blessings, love and lots of good energy.

Mbarak 3laikm ilshahar!

See you next week my lovely readers!

Photographer Nicole Hill brought model Jennifer McManis, and her team, to the legendary Salvation Mountain in Niland, California for this editorial for Ben Trovata. I really love the colours and just how natural the shoot feels. Clashing patterns are defiantly in right now, put your stripes, polka dots and flower patterns on all at once making sure it does also look good too, very much like these photos! Colour is good and pattern is good, don't forget that! Don't be afraid to experiment and just go wild this summer!

Sorry Coco, Its the little black Jacket now.

Sorry Coco, Its the little black Jacket now.

Hey Readers,

If any of you are like me, I am not a dress person, I cannot even remember the last time I wore a dress to go out. They say the little black dress is essential to a complete wardrobe by many women who believe its a rule of fashion that every woman must own a little black dress. The little black dress origins to the 1920's designs of Coco Chanel. Sure, that's right if one likes to wear dresses but I don't, therefore the little black jacket is essential to complete a wardrobe to those that don't like dresses.

Alexander McQueen:
2012-13 spring/summer collection Paris.

Normally when I see a catwalk video I do get bored because its just model after model walking, but both these videos have been created so magically, I watched it over and over! The creative Director is Sarah Burton, Behind the scenes footage by Sean Frank and the music by Dario Marianelli-Briony.Capturing perfectly the essence of McQueen, Trevor Undi from Kymera.tv combined the beautiful behind the scene with runway footage in these two short videos. Its just wonderful!
